Timber-frame home with infinity pool in the hills above Nîmes
Constantly innovating and imagining each project in its particular cultural, social or geographical context is the driving force and luxury of architects Vielliard & Francheteau, who have created an exceptional contemporary wooden house in Nîmes. Designed and built in wood-frame construction, this highly modern architect-designed villa blends harmoniously into the wooded surroundings of the Tour Magne hill. Its architecture opens onto the vegetation and landscape, with all-glass facades and a layout that respects the topography of the site.
A contemporary villa in wood and corter steel
Constructed in wood, the facades combine natural stone-tone rendering with corten steel, echoing the nearby Roman ruins and the temporality of a historic site. The hallmark of architects Vielliard & Francheteau is recognizable in this contemporary house, with its flat roof overhanging the fully glazed interior spaces, protecting them from the generous Nîmes sunshine.
The house’s wood frame has been designed to allow complete freedom in the layout of the interior spaces. They take full advantage of the view over the landscape, with panoramic sliding windows that erase any boundary with the outside world. The only reminder of this boundary is the floor, which changes from a stone floor of Italian origin to the ipe wood slats of the terrace, which descend a few steps to the pool area.
Below the garden, the architects elegantly integrate an infinity pool and its beach, inviting you to laze luxuriously on the heights of Nîmes.
